About

Multani mitti, besan, sandalwood and ground rose petals. Four things and nothing else.

Fuller's earth sieved fine, gram flour as the base the other three sit on, sandalwood bought with its paperwork because it is a regulated species, and rose petals ground coarse enough that you can still see them flecking the powder pink.

Mix only what you need, because clay does not keep once it is wet. Water or rose water, both work. Rinse it off as it dries rather than waiting for it to crack, which is the part most people get wrong.

How to use

Mix only what you need, because clay does not keep once it is wet. Rinse it off as it dries rather than waiting for it to crack, which is the part most people get wrong.

  1. Mix to a paste with water or rose water
  2. Apply to a clean face
  3. Leave fifteen minutes, or until dry
  4. Rinse with water
Ingredients

Contains gram flour. For external use only. Patch test first.

Storage and shelf life

Keep the lid tight and use a dry spoon. The clay takes up moisture, so a wet spoon will set it hard in the jar.

Radiance Face Mask

What goes in

Everything in Radiance Face Mask

  1. Multani mitti

    Multani mitti

    Calcium bentonite clay

Fuller's earth, sieved fine. It is a clay, so it sets hard as it dries and the mask is rinsed before it cracks.

  2. Besan

    Besan

    Cicer arietinum, gram flour

Gram flour. It is the base both face products are mixed on, and it is why they contain gram.

  3. Sandalwood

    Sandalwood

    Santalum album

Ground heartwood from a documented plantation source. Sandalwood is a regulated species in Karnataka and is bought with its paperwork.

  4. Rose petals

    Rose petals

    Rosa damascena

Dried and ground to a coarse powder, which is what flecks the mask pink.

Questions

Water or rose water for the face mask?

Either. Rose water is what most people reach for and it smells of the petals in the jar; plain water does the same job.

Do I need to patch test?

Yes, for anything that goes on skin or scalp. A little on the inside of the forearm, left for a day.

Can I use the masks together?

Yes. The hair mask first, then the face mask while the hair one sets, is how the Sunday stop is written.

How do I store it?

Lid tight, away from heat and light, with a dry spoon. Moisture is what spoils a powder.
